CONTROL Resonant Best PC Settings — DLSS 4.5, RT & Path Tracing

Launch PC tests Updated Sep 27, 2026

CONTROL Resonant on PC is flexible but hungry once ray tracing / path tracing is on. Use an upscaler. Specs alone are on system requirements — this page is the practical settings ladder.

Rules of thumb

  1. Enable DLSS (Nvidia) or FSR (AMD) before cutting every slider.
  2. Turn on Ray Reconstruction with path tracing / Ultra RT on GeForce — it is effectively free image quality.
  3. Add Frame Generation only after the base frame rate is healthy (roughly 45+ FPS before FG).
  4. If fights feel input-laggy, lower FG multiplier or RT tier before resolution.

Recommended presets by goal

Looks first (RTX 4070 Ti / 5070+ class)

  • Graphics preset: High or Ultra
  • Ray Tracing: Ultra (path tracing) if stable
  • Upscaler: DLSS Quality (1440p) or Balanced/Performance (4K)
  • Ray Reconstruction: On
  • Frame Generation: 2×–4× once base FPS is solid

Balanced play (mid-range / laptop RTX 5060–5070)

  • Ray Tracing: Medium (or High without full path tracing)
  • Upscaler: DLSS Quality
  • Ray Reconstruction: On
  • Frame Generation: fixed 2× (best latency/feel tradeoff in early tests)
  • If 1% lows dip in big fights, drop RT before DLSS Quality

Performance / older GPUs

  • Ray Tracing: Off or Low
  • Upscaler: DLSS / FSR Balanced or Performance
  • Frame Generation: Off unless you already have 50+ FPS
  • Lower Shadows, Volumetrics, and Foliage before Texture Resolution

AMD (RX 7000 / 9000)

  • Use FSR 4 where available; expect to run lower RT and higher internal resolution than comparable Nvidia cards for similar image quality.
  • Prefer Balanced FSR over Ultra RT at 1440p/4K if reconstruction looks soft.

What to cut first when FPS drops

  1. Path tracing / Ray Tracing Ultra → High → Medium → Off
  2. Frame Generation multiplier (6× → 2× → Off)
  3. DLSS mode (Quality → Balanced → Performance)
  4. Shadows, Lighting, Volumetric Spotlight, Foliage
  5. Native resolution last

VSync, Reflex, and feel

  • Cap FPS near your display refresh if Frame Generation is on.
  • Prefer Nvidia Reflex / low-latency options when available — Resonant’s FG stack can hide high latency behind a high FPS number.
  • Controllers are more forgiving of FG latency than mouse aim.
Console note On PS5 / PS5 Pro use the dedicated modes page instead: PS5 performance modes.
