CONTROL Resonant Combat Guide

Official systems Verified Sep 21, 2026

CONTROL Resonant combat is close-range and build-driven. Dylan pairs the shapeshifting Aberrant with paranatural abilities instead of leaning on the original Control’s gun/telekinesis loop.

Core loop

  1. Close distance with movement / gravity tools
  2. Apply Aberrant pressure in your active form
  3. Perfect Dodge or defensive tools to stay alive
  4. Exploit stagger for finishers
  5. Spend Power on abilities that match the fight

Aberrant as your primary weapon

Primary and secondary forms let you swap roles mid-fight (heavy vs fast configurations are the early mental model). Treat form choice like a loadout, not a cosmetic. Deep dive: Aberrant forms.

Abilities and Power

Confirmed ability names in pre-launch coverage include Barrage, Volatile Anomaly, Ignite, Push, and related tools. Resonant bosses expand the arsenal. Ability catalog: Abilities guide. Exact damage numbers stay Unknown until in-game verification.

Defense and Assist Mode

Dodge timing is learnable; Assist Mode can widen windows if needed. See Assist Mode.

Build synergy

Talents and artifacts multiply what your forms and abilities already do. Free respec at The Gap means you can experiment. Start here: Best builds.
