Ordered Image and Patterned Thought are late-game craft / upgrade materials for high-tier Aberrant work and Artifacts (for example Coin, Worn Eraser, Golden Earrings recipes). They barely drop before the Unknown — early zones will not farm them efficiently.
Where to get them
- Unknown Hedron enemies — Parallel / Factor / Proxy and patterned elites can drop either mat
- Twisted Rooftops farm — respawning patterned Hedron around the rooftops; if they stop spawning, move toward the large mid-zone flashes, or leave to The Gap and return
- Pulse Fitness secret — completing the gym puzzle hideout can yield a patterned mat among rewards
- Unknown vendor — sells Ordered Image and Patterned Thought on the island right of Field Office Island (fence / benches). Fast travel to that island is typically post-story
Practical loop
Progress Unknown story elites for guaranteed checks, then Twisted Rooftops respawns for bulk. Buy leftover stacks from the Unknown vendor after the ending if you still need Artifact Formation mats — best artifacts.
What they’re for
Late talent / Aberrant upgrades and Gap Artifact Formation. If a recipe asks for Ordered Image or Patterned Thought and you have none, you are almost certainly not in the Unknown yet — keep pushing Pope’s Research / story islands first.
